Brake Electronics (MK60-AT)
Coding
Coding Assist & Support
While coding for this Control Module is typically done via SVM, all necessary information is included in the VCDS Coding Assist. In case of a replacement and when the old Control Module is still accessible, you can also read/copy the original coding and transfer it to the new/replacement Control Module. If the old control module does not communicate anymore or the original coding was not saved prior to repairs, use the VCDS Coding Assist. Registered customers can also contact Ross-Tech Support via email for assistance. A complete Auto-Scan as well as the recent repair history MUST be included in order for us to assist.
The VCDS Coding Assist includes the following coding options for this system:
- Vehicle Manufacturer & Model
- Engine Type/Starting Torque
- Hydraulic Brake Booster
- Front/Rear Brake Type
- Suspension
- Normal/Sport Suspension
- Rough Road Suspension
- (Indirect) Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS)
Security Access
Security Access Support
Due to the different control module variants, hardware and software versions, applicable Security Access Codes will be displayed in VCDS while being connected to the control module in question. If specific procedures lack this documented information, registered customers can contact Ross-Tech Support via email for assistance. A complete Auto-Scan, recent repair and/or modification history as well as specific notes as to what function/procedure is missing MUST be included in the email in order for us to assist.
Basic Settings
Sensor for Steering Angle (G85)
Prerequisites
- Ignition ON & Engine ON/RUNNING
- Battery/System Voltage > 12.0 V
- Turn the steering wheel one turn to the right and one turn to the left.
- For a short distance drive in a straight line on a level surface (max. 20 km/h).
- Ensure the wheels are pointed straight and come to a stop.
- Ensure that the steering wheel is not moved again.
- Keep the Ignition ON & Engine ON/RUNNING

After a successful basic setting, field 2 should say "OK". |
| 5 | [Done, Go Back] [Close/Back - 06] |
Finalization
- After successful basic setting, the Steering Limit Stop needs to be adapted too.
Common Issues/Errors
- If Adjustment Not Possible is displayed:
- The On/Off/Next button was used and the procedure will need to be repeated WITHOUT clicking it.
- The G85 live values were not within the ±1.5 °specification. Repeating the procedure within specifications should resolve it.
- The Steering wheel should be turned to full right lock stop and to full left lock stop and centered again followed by repeating the procedure.
- The 16-Steerign Wheel control module and 44-Steering Assist control module (when applicable) Coding and Adaptation configurations should be checked to rule out a conflict.

Replacement
After replacing this control module (incl. hydraulic unit), follow these steps:
- Perform Brake Electronics Control Module (J104) Coding
- Perform Basic Setting for Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
- Perform Basic Setting for Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200)
- Perform Basic Setting for Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
- Perform Basic Setting for Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (G251)
Once these steps have been performed, DTC 01486 will be stored.
