Immobilizer 4

Immobilizer Generation 4 is devided into two separate learning concepts. The original implementation by Audi/Volkswagen is functionally similar to Immobilizer Generation 3 utilizing classic diagnostic adaptation functions (referred to as Immobilizer 4A). Newer models (introduced between MY 2006-2008, check model specific pages for details) as well as subsequent immobilizer generations use a more sophisticated download based learning scheme (referred to as Immobilizer 4C/4D).

The exact type can be determined via the Immobilizer ID/Serial Number of each component. Serial Numbers starting VWZ (for Example VWZ7Z0G7051888) utiliza Immobilizer 4A (Adaptation), while components with Serial Numbers starting with VWX (for Example VWX7Z0G7051888) utilize Immobilizer 4C/4D (Download). A Component showing VWY (for Example VWY7Z0G7051888) as Serial Number is also Immobilizer 4C/4D (Download), but has not been matched/adapted yet (i.e. is a new component). Components showing no Serial Numbers but showing an Immobilizer Challenge would also be Immobilizer 4C/4D (Download).

All related works for Immobilizer Generation 4 (also referred to 4c/4d) requires an online connection to the vehicle manufacturers servers/backend, which is currently not available to aftermarket diagnostic tool manufacturers.

Access to these functions requires authorized access the SVM/GeKO and FAZIT-Servers, available to both official manufacturer associated dealerships as well as independant workshops.

Used Keys

Keys are locked during their initial/first learning process and cannot be learned/matched to a different immobilizer system via factory procedures. Therefor, existing keys from a specific vehicle and immobilizer identity can be re-learned/matched to that same vehicle/identity at any time, while used keys from different vehicles or old identities cannot be learned/matched!
